Plagiarism is using someone else's text as your own without making precise source references.
“Using” can for example mean to: mention, quote, paraphrase, cite, translate, incorporate, analyse, interpret, discuss, assess etc.
“Text” can, regardless of medium, for example be: icler, sentences, structures, data, figures, plots, images, graphs, tables, graphics, program code, statistics, audio, video, internet streams, diagrams, web pages, books, songs, sheet music, radio and TV programmes, plays and other performances, choreography, film, music, books, articles, emails, interviews, speeches, letters, works of art, claims, statements, notes, points of view, theories, assertions etc.
A “citation” is also called a reference, literature reference etc. A citation must be so precise that the original source can be identified unambiguously.
