Kildespillet

Kildespillet is a board game that promotes students' information literacy, encourages collaboration and strengthens psychological safety in a low-pressure learning situation

Cards

Kildespillet – is a memory-based board game about information sources and is played in groups of 3-4. The cards lie face down on the table, and the players have to find pairs that belong together. When a pair has been found, the task is to identify which type of information source the text on the card describes. Players do not get extra turns for correct answers.

A board game is "immersive" and can create a different kind of motivation for learning. The illustrations are made with artificial intelligence and are visually different in order to support the memory function.

The game mechanics involve:

  • Randomization: "everyone" can win.
  • Turn taking:  conversation with balanced group dynamics.

From a learning perspective, practice in failing as a group through randomization will help to build a Growth Mindset and trust, while reflection and collaboration through discussion promote “voice” and learning from knowledgeable "others". Turn taking facilitates academic conversation with balanced group dynamics that encourages the players to be active without dominating
